About me!
My name is Karina Bjuran. I am a woman at “just the right age” who simply LOVE cats.
I have one daughter, Nina, and a wonderful grandson called Magnus who became 3 years old in July 2006.
I got my first cat, a domestic cat, in 1969 through the newspaper.
His name was Lurven, a name that later became my cattery name. Lurven was a black semi long haired cat that reminded me a lot of what later was to become the Norwegian Forest Cat.
At that time I did not know a lot about cats or cat shows. One of my colleagues at work happened to be a member of a cat club, and in August 1972 I too joined Norsk Rasekatt Klubb. By this time I had also bought a black Persian.
My addiction and interest in cats steadily grew stronger over the years, and in April 1977 I passed my examination as an International FIFè judge on Category I (Persian & Exotic) and Category II (Semilonghair). Ever since I passed my exams, judging has been one of my true passions.
My first cat, Lurven, had a lot in common with a Norwegian Forest Cat, and this breed has always been of great interest and very dear to me. In December 1977 I was fortunate to become the first judge ever FIFè judge to award a certificate to a Norwegian Forest Cat. Of all wonderful memories from the show circuit, this is one of my dearest, and something I feel extremely honoured by.
Over the years I have had litters in the following breeds: Persian, Norwegian Forest Cat, Sacred Birman and Maine Coon. I have not had many litters, and today I only breed Maine Coon.
I consider myself very privileged having been able to judge a lot over the years in many exciting countries and places. I have been able to meet a lot of nice and interesting people, and first and foremost I have handled a lot of BEAUTIFUL cats! I have had a fantastic life in the Cat Fancy!
I love to show my own cats, and try to participate at shows as often as possible.
I am the “mother” of the so-called “Karina-mus”. For many years I have been making these knitted mice for cats – a rather well-known and loved cat toy.
I am presently living in the north of Norway, in a small town called Andenes, on the island Andøya, close to the Polar Circle. I really enjoy living here! Just take a look at the pictures of the magnificent nature and you will see why.
It is important to me that my cats lead a good and happy life. Since I am home all the time, my cats and I enjoy a very close relationship. I hope you will enjoy your visit to my homepage, meeting my four-legged furry friends that I consider myself very fortunate to live together with.
